Joe and Angela

THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT YOUR FUTURE IS TO CREATE IT.

Abraham Lincoln

Owner Joe Carter has had a passion for the restaurant industry since he was 18 years old…just a few decades ago, you might say! After two successful careers in education and pharmaceutical sales, Joe and his wife, Angela, decided it was now or never; it was time to take the plunge and make his dream a reality! Joe had worked as a server at a well-known and highly successful family restaurant during college and his early years in education, and he learned firsthand that the key to restaurant success is to consistently provide excellent food, exceptional service, and a pleasing atmosphere. Now 30 years later, those lessons he learned seem to still hold true. The 16th celebrated its first birthday on September 16th (of course) 2023, and still continues to be a work in progress. The goal is to never stop that process!

As we walked into the 16th we were met with smiling faces and a warm welcome. Once we were seated by Pam, we were greeted by Bryan our waiter. Bryan was extremely friendly and courteous throughout our meal. The meal my wife and I enjoyed was delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful. We will definitely be coming back soon. Thank you guys for a great experience!

Everything was fantastic! Service, atmosphere, food, and the pricing was very reasonable as well! Loved the pork tenderloin and the catfish, hot cheese bites, and the blackberry cobbler waas probably the best I’ve had! Just wonderful!

This place was great! We stopped in for lunch after leaving Lincoln’s Birthplace. The staff was very nice and super accommodating to my girlfriend’s dietary needs and she loved the pork tenderloin. I had the Hot Brown and was very impressed. The highlight was definitely the pecan pie for dessert!

WOW! Everything was exceptional; food, service, atmosphere. Be sure to order dessert, you won’t regret it. I had the 16th Chicken with the honey Tabasco sauce and there were no leftovers. Yum!

Some think you have to travel to New York or Chicago for food so beautifully plated, and that tastes even better than it looks. Would you believe it is in our very own state of Kentucky? Not in Louisville or Lexington where just parking alone would include a tank of gas and a valet or parking garage fee! So, where, you ask… at The 16th restaurant right on the square in Hodgenville. We just had a great meal at The 16th where we were treated like special guests, and we enjoyed EVERY bite of our delicious meal. Everything from the atmosphere to the last bite of pie on our fork… it was all amazing. What items do we recommend? Everything! We loved the crispy Brussel sprouts and the fried catfish cooked perfectly. (Fridays only)However, we almost fought over the last bite of the bread pudding that was served warm with ice cream, topped with a bourbon glaze! Don’t spend gas, money and time going to a crowded “nice” restaurant in one of those big cities. Stay in our hometown and experience some of the yummiest food at The 16th in Hodgenville!
